I’m a jazz guitarist and lately, I’ve really fallen in love with piano and really want to learn it! I can already read sheet music, know the chord formulas, scales, how to improvise… Would it be still possible for me to learn piano to a decent level? I don’t mind practicing all day, because basically my whole life revolves around music.
Thanks and excuse my English!

I’ve done most of my learning through books and videos, but I need hands-on instruction b/c sometimes the theory gets too difficult to understand through just books. Maybe a school specifically for that?
Thanks!

… but my dad insisted on piano, so I took piano. Everyday I tell myself how stupid it was, I really should have taken cello. So I’m constantly trying to reassure myself about my choice by listening to my favorite songs containing piano, BUT piano will never give me that shiver, that feeling that I get when I listen to Bach 1st Suite.
What should I do? Is it too late? I mean I want to continue piano because I don’t think I could live knowing that all possibilities for me to play in a Jazz band are over, and I still do like piano. But do you think that I could start next year (I’ll be 16) and save up for a cello by myself and ask my parents to pay for cello AND piano class?
Cuz I’m a very determined person, I know that I want to make the most of my life which is why I’m open to many passions, like I draw and love photography and piano and music in general (all kinds), I also know I was made for art and that I’d like to have an artistic carreer, would starting cello be a stupid idea?

I can play the Entertainer by Joplin, and I can construct chords and figure out inversions, but I’m a poor sight reader. I familiar with some theory and I’ve played the guitar for about 7 years, but chording and playing a melody at thesame time is so much different. For thisreason I feel that the piano is the master of all instruments, and I want to learn how to compose also. I just need a good starting point.

So I was invited to play piano at my school’s prom, and wanted to do a couple of slow jazz songs in the set. I already know songs like ‘Round Midnight and Lullaby of Birdland and stuff like that, so I’m looking for some other (maybe not as well-known) pieces in that genre. I could possibly bring a saxophonist or a trumpeter with me too, but I’m mainly looking for pieces for piano, or piano that can stand alone or have an optional sax/trumpet part.

I’ve been listening to Thelonious Monk’s "Round Midnight" and thought it’d be fun to put together a playlist of poems featuring only solo piano and no other accompaniment. Suggestions? It can be from any time period in the history of jazz.

I’m an accomplished musician, but I’ve had little exposure to Blues and none to Latin jazz. Are there any good resources online?
